Traditional American Biscuits and sausage gravy

Instructions:
Crumble the sausage meat in a pan and cook until meat is no longer pink. Add the flour one tablespoon at a time and stir quickly. Keep stirring until a paste forms, and start the heat to high. Add the milk, stir and add salt. This mixture should be relatively thick. In order to biscuits, mix the flour and shortening using a pastry cutter, if you have one. Add the milk, stirring as you do so. Knead the dough in the bowl, and slide it to the floured surface. Roll it out and cut out circles (I find the drinking glass works well for this). Place the biscuits baking sheet and bake at 425 degrees for about 10-15 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown. Serve with biscuits in front of an open or cut up, and the sausage gravy is poured on top.
